Introduction to laws and regulations, materials and components. Construction principles: Foundations, walls, slabs (floor), ceiling and technical rooms. Structural engineering. Basic building physics: weather and climate, indoor environment, heat insulation, moisture, sound, fire, and how to avoid construction errors. Use of online Byggforsk building knowledge systems. Health, Environment and Safety in construction lab.

Skills:
The candidate can draw out simple building constructions in scale by hand and using CAD.
The candidate can apply methode to document
building structure qualities.
The candidate can apply current legislation to engineering and documentation of common solutions.

General competence:
The candidate has insight into the environmental impacts of products and solutions in house building technique. The candidate shall have good knowledge of the characteristics of ordinary building materials.
