Project Management, Advanced Course

The course provides in-depth knowledge in project management for building and construction projects. Key topics include: Concept development, Concept evaluation, Front-end planning, Stakeholder analysis, Uncertainty analysis, Project governance, Multi-criteria decision analysis, Sustainability assessment, Digitalization, and Project delivery models.

Knowledge:

The candidate should have knowledge of the construction process and the roles involved. The candidate should have knowledge of concept selection and evaluation in projects. The candidate should have knowledge of planning, organising, and executing projects.

Skills:

The candidate can identify conceptual solutions that meet the project-triggering needs. The candidate can assess concepts. The candidate can carry out stakeholder analyses, uncertainty analyses, multi-criteria analyses, as well as sustainability analyses. The candidate can describe the organisation of projects. The candidate can describe how digitalisation can support the organisation of projects.

General Competence:

The candidate should understand the importance of the early phase for project success and project management success. The candidate should understand and use professional terminology. The candidate should understand where and when different methods are appropriate. The candidate should understand the limitations of these methods. The candidate should be able to recommend project concepts and project delivery strategies on an independent basis.

The teaching in the course is given as seminars, group work and supervised self-study. Exercises are included. Collaboration is important.
