About this course
Content
The course motivates for the study through basic training within ICT-methods and tools that are used by different study profiles at the program for Engineering and ICT. This is realized through basic training in the use of tools and methods organized as small projects connected to different profiles. In some degree there will be a connection between the projects. The course will also include basic training in programming. Experiences from the course are valuable later in the study.
Learning outcomes
Knowledge:
The candidate will be introduced to various profiles at the Master's degree programme in engineering and ICT. Furthermore, the candidate will learn to use certain computer tools that are relevant for the various profiles at the study. Basic training in Python programming will also be included in the course.
Skills:
The candidate will be able to handle simple elements within the main profiles of the study. Specifically within geomatics, marine engineering, petroleum technology, mechanical engineering and production management. It is about the use of simple data tools and methods associated with the profiles. Concretely, this could, for example, be about 3D modeling of ships, analysis and visualization of geographical information, etc. The candidate will also be able to create simple Phyton applications.
General competence:
The candidate is supposed to have a general insight into how a computer program is made, how it works and how it can be used.
Teaching methods
The course gives theoretical and practical training in various computer based methods and tools that are used by different study profiles. This can be ICT/CAE tools and tools related to handling of geographic information, marine technology, petroleum engineering or production engineering. The education is based on lectures and sub-projects connected to different study profiles. The course also includes training in programming concluded by a practical task connected to one of the study profiles. The Technostart project is also integrated in the course.
