About this course
Content
The course comprises of two theory themes of 3.75 credits each. The theory part forms a foundation of the specialization project work, and is closely linked to the project topic. The theory modules (3.75 credits each)are chosen among the following ones:
Building physics, specialization (prof. J. V. Thue).
Fire technology - material performance and fire scenarios (prof. P. J. Hovde).
Fire technology - fire safety engineering and fire resistance (prof. II H. Landrø).
Building materials, specialization (prof. P. J. Hovde).
Building acoustics - sound insulation (prof. II A. Brekke).
Building acoustics - room acoustics and noise (prof. II A. Brekke).
Buildings and materials, special topic(prof II Jan V. Thue).
Building rehabilitation (ass.prof. Marit S. Valen).
Advanced design of masonry strucures (prof. K.V. Høiseth).
Pore structure and lifecycle design of concrete (prof. Ø. Vennesland).
Energy supply of buildings (ass.prof. Rolf Ulseth).
Indoor climate and air conditoning (prof. Sten Olaf Hanssen).
Ventilation for industry, fire and safety (prof. Per Olaf Tjelflaat).
A description of the contents of each theory theme is found on the web pages of Department of Building and Transport Engineering, Buildings and Materials Group.
Learning outcomes
To convey in-depth knowledge, both theoretical and practical, in a confined field within building and material engineering.
Teaching methods
The teaching in the theory modules may be given as lectures, seminars, laboratory teaching or supervised self study. Exercises may be included. Late examination will be held within the examination term.
