Freight Transport Systems

Infrastructure and markets for all freight transport modes are characterized from the perspectives of logistics and transport economics. Key elements are market development, transport policy, competitive interfaces, organization, and the needs and strategies of the actors responsible for commercial transport functions. Terminals and special features of road, rail, sea, and air transport systems as part of the general logistics and supply chain are considered. Cost-benefit analysis and other methods of transport economics are introduced.

To provide knowledge and understanding of the freight transport systems and their development, as well as the related logistics of the integrated transport chains.

Lectures, seminars, and exercises. The course is lectured in English. Exercises and final test can be answered in Norwegian. If there is a re-sit examination, the examination form may be changed from written to oral.
