About this course
Content
Geodesy/Land surveying: Coordinate and height references, datum, geoid. Satellite geodesy (GPS), system description and measuring methodes. Total stations, measuring methodes. Calculations of coordinates and heights. Mathematical statistic and estimation. The Norwegian Geodata standard.
Photogrammetry: Definition, basic concepts. Photogrammetric imagery, image characteristics, image measuring, stereoscopic vision and measuring. Introduction to perspective transformation and reconstruction of stereoscopic models. Map compilation.
Remote sensing: Radiation theory, sensors, satellites. Classification methods. Applications.
Learning outcomes
The course gives a basic understanding of land surveying, mapping, satellite geodesy (GPS), remote sensing and photogrammetry, and of the basic mathematics and estimation theory that applies to geodesy and photogrammetry.
Teaching methods
Lectures. Calculations and laboratory excercises. Field work. A subset of the assignments counts 30% of the final grade. If there is a re-sit examination, the examination form may be changed from written to oral.
