Building Process – Project Based Production

The course covers construction projects as production systems based on theory and tools from Lean Construction, a production management-based approach to project delivery.

• know the origins of Lean Production and Lean Construction and what the concepts entail
• has knowledge of value theory and what provides value for different stakeholders in construction projects
• understands projects as value delivery systems and principles for optimizing them
• understands central production, team and communication theories and can apply them to explain construction projects as a production system
• understand lean principles and concepts for making good decisions
• understands projects as value delivery systems and principles for optimizing them
• is familiar with common measures within lean construction measures to facilitate collaboration in construction projects
• know different approaches to facilitate better construction site logistics
• know various lean methods for improving production system
• understands the key principles of project implementation using Integrated Project Delivery (IPD) and Target Value Delivery (TVD)
• understands how systematic waste reduction contributes to improved sustainability outcomes in construction.
