About this course
Content
- The student shall pick a specific problem of relevance to the master program, often connected to on-going research projects - The topic must represent a challenge within the specific area and it is required that the student adheres to practices that are common within the area - The topic must be pre-approved by the supervisor.
Learning outcomes
The thesis shall demonstrate the student's ability to define and complete a scientific project with the aim to produce new knowledge. The thesis shall demonstrate the student's: Knowledge: - choosing a relevant method or methods according to the problem definition - carry out the project - discuss and reflect on the results achieved - draw conclusions and make recommendations Skills: - choose a project that has the potential to contribute to the scientific knowledge in the field - carry out the project and reflect on the results - write the scientific thesis in English of a high standard - present the scientific results clearly General competence: - acquire and demonstrate a Scientific approach - improve skills in writing and presenting Scientific results
Teaching methods
Project work, seminar and tutoring
Requirements: Approved Master thesis agreement. The student must present a project status report to the supervisor within 3 months and demonstrate that the project can be completed according to the project plan or, alternatively, adjust the plan accordingly to ensure a successful outcome. Progress reporting must be made to the supervisor weekly. The student is encouraged to present the master thesis/topic in a recorded oral presentation.
