Learning outcomes
After completing the course, the student is supposed to have
Knowledge:
-Knowledge of fundamental principles of system thinking and systems engineering with their application to manufacturing systems
-Knowledge of quantitative metrics for assessment of manufacturing systems performance
-Knowledge of operations management
-Knowledge of principles of supply chains and circular manufacturing
-Knowledge of changeable manufacturing
Skills:
-Propose improvements to the existing manufacturing systems or develop new manufacturing systems with focus on sustainability
-Apply methods for planning and scheduling in manufacturing systems
-Understand multitiered systems in the context of circular manufacturing
-Identify leverage points and archetypes in complex systems
General competence:
-Ability to carry out analysis and synthesis of manufacturing systems
Teaching methods
Teaching Methods:
- Seminars with flipped classroom
- Group work
- Laboratory exercises
The course will be made accessible for both campus- and remote students. Every student is free to choose the pedagogic arrangement form that is best fitted for her/his own requirement. The seminars in the course will be given on campus and online, open for both categories of students. The materials needed for seminars will be available ahead through the learning management system. Tutoring is given at campus in accordance to announced times. Tutoring is also available through internet.
Remote students should meet on campus for two practices in the laboratory. The dates will be agreed together with the teacher.
All learning materials, lectures and tutoring will be in English. All hand-ins and exams must be in English.
