About this course

Content

The course will provide knowledge and experience regarding global health challenges, disease panorama and treatment, cultural understanding and culturally sensitive nursing through clinical placements in collaboration with international partners.

Learning outcomes

Knowledge:  

After completing the course, the student should:

  • Have knowledge about culture and culturally sensitive nursing.
  • Have knowledge about global health issues and health promotion.
  • Have knowledge about the role and responsibilities of the nurse in the health services where the clinical nursing practice takes place.
  • have insight into interdisciplinary work at the clinical placement
  • Have knowledge about health, disease and treatment in a global perspective.
  • Understand the significance of international collaboration in research and development.

Skills:

After completing the course, the student should:

  • Use relevant knowledge and understanding in the provision of safe and holistic nursing care, based on expected level of knowledge and experience.
  • Demonstrate cultural sensitivity in the provision of nursing care.
  • Demonstrate ability to communicate and cooperate in a new cultural context.

After completing the course, the student should:

  • Demonstrate ability to reflect critically and ethically upon relevant aspects of health care, nursing practice and treatment of diseases.
