Nursing IV

Professional nursing (7,5 ECTS):

health promotion and disease prevention focusing on health, coping, lifestyle, environment, public health, prevention of disease and injuries, important target areas internationally, nationally and locally

the normal pregnancy, birth and postnatal period

health information.

The professional and scientific basis of nursing:

development of the nursing profession in the 20th century from humanitarian organisations and community health services

ethical theories and principles

ethical challenges in health promotion and disease prevention

justice and priorities in the health services

research methods in scientific work.

Læringsutbytte - Kunnskap:

have knowledge of health promotion and disease prevention in relation to individuals, health, environment and nursing

have knowledge of the influence of positive health factors on individuals and their environment

have knowledge of local, national and global policies and relevant institutions in public health work

have knowledge of health information and be able to take part in teaching and supervising various target groups

  

Læringsutbytte - Ferdigheter:

be able to apply knowledge of risk factors, disease and human reactions towards illness in health promotion

demonstrate an understanding of the perspectives of minorities, gender and age in relation to health

be able to identify and reflect systematically on ethical dilemmas in health promotion and disease prevention

demonstrate ability to use research results in written papers and clinical practice placements, and have knowledge of fundamental concepts and analysis in qualitative and quantitative research.

  

Læringsutbytte - Kompetanse:

be able to plan, implement and present projects in health promotion and disease prevention.

Pedagogiske metoder:

Lectures. Self study. Project work in groups. 2-4 days of clinical placement in connection with project work.   

Obligatoriske arbeidskrav:

70% compulsory attendance in the lectures and other curricular activity.
Presentation of project plan in a group with mandatory supervision. Presentation of the project. Presence in clinical placement. Approved coursework requirements are valid for the year of approval and two subsequent years. If the subject code is changed, special rules apply.
