An introduction to central concepts in theory of science.

Evidence based practice.

Systematic literature search.

Læringsutbytte - Kunnskap:

Understand the needs and challenges of an elderly patient living in an institution.

Understand how nursing care for terminal patients can be provided in a nursing home.

Have knowledge about Kari Martinsen's philosophy of caring.

Have knowledge about central concepts in nursing.

Be aware of the moral responsibilities of a nurse.

Have knowledge about central concepts in and approaches to research and theory of science.

Læringsutbytte - Ferdigheter:

Be able to identify, assess and implement nursing care to elderly people with diminishing health.

Be able to discuss what constitutes safe and ethical nursing care for elderly patients with different care needs.

Be able to conduct a systematic literature search

Have knowledge about the structure and characteristics of scientific articles.

Have knowledge about methods that advance evidence based practice in nursing.

Pedagogiske metoder:

Lectures, computer based literature search, group work. 70% compulsory attendance in the lectures and other curricular activity.
