Mathematical Statistics

Transformation of random variables (including transformation of vector variables), theory of point estimation, interval estimation and testing of statistical hypothesis, inference for normal populations, asymptotic properties for statistical methods.

The objective of the course is to give the students a solid foundation for understanding and valuating properties of statistical methods and test statistics, and what information that can be extracted from the data when these are used.

Lectures and exercises. The lectures may be given in English. Written final examination is the basis for the grade awarded in the course. Retake of examination may be given as an oral examination.
