About this course
Content
The course has its disciplinary focus in Applied Linguistics. The course plan follows the general outline for doctoral courses under NORDPAL The Nordic doctoral and postdoctoral network for Applied Linguistics (see https://www.ntnu.edu/nordpal). It starts with a session on the intellectual underpinnings of Applied Linguistics before moving on to the focal theme of oral communication in professional contexts.
Under this theme three different sessions will present alternative approaches to analysis, including a data
and methodology workshop.
Learning outcomes
Participants will
be given experience presenting their work in an informal symposium setting as well as writing a course
essay to discuss some aspect of their work presented within a framework of scientific publishing. They
will learn the inner workings of international publishing processes from a very prominent journals and
book series editor. Among the other learning outcomes, establishing an international network of fellow
doctoral students and prominent senior scholars is important.
Teaching methods
Presentation of research Project and issues that need to discuss.
Presentations will be constructively commented on by fellow participants and NORDPAL scholars.
