Bachelor Thesis in Spanish

The bachelor's thesis must be written in Spanish. The topic of the thesis should be within one of the three disciplines of Spanish as taught in Norwegian universities. Alternatively, students may choose an interdisciplinary topic. The students should further develop their proficiency in Spanish as well as their understanding of texts and academic writing. They should practise information processing, collection of empirical data and evaluation of research and methods within a relevant subject.

The thesis should be approximately 7000 words, and must include an abstract in Norwegian of up to half a page.

KNOWLEDGE

The candidate:

• has broad knowledge of a limited area of the Spanish language, or literature or culture within the Spanish speaking countries
• is familiar with important academic literature belonging to the relevant area
• is familiar with important methods within the academic area with which the thesis deals

SKILLS

The candidate is expected to:

• be able to formulate a specific academic problem as well as work structurally with a particular problem
• be able to adapt collected material as a consequence of their academic insight
• be able to identify and impart questions in academic literature
• master relevant terminology and method

GENERAL COMPETENCE

The candidate:

• has insight into source criticism
• can plan and conduct academic tasks
• can convey advanced academic material such as theories, approaches to problems, and solutions, both in writing and orally as well as through other relevant terminology
• can reflect on personal academic practice and adjust this under guidance
• has command of relevant academic tools
