Hispanic Contemporary Literature

The course focuses on a topic relevant to Hispanic literature or a hispanic author from the 20th and/or 21st Century. The focus may change from one year another. Relevant topics are short stories and flash fiction, multilingual literature and socially committed literature.

KNOWLEDGE

The candidate:

• is expected to have knowledge about specific Hispanic authors
• is expected to have detailed knowledge about a selection of Spanish speaking literary texts
• is expected to have thorough knowledge about theory, terminology and analytical tools that are relevant for the given topic
• has specialized within a determined area of Hispanic literature

SKILLS

The candidate:

• is expected to be able to understand and interpret Spanish texts
• is expected to be able to utilize his/her knowledge to reflect on and discuss important problems within Hispanic literature, both orally and in writing
• is able to consider whether a piece information is trustworthy
• is expected to gain further knowledge within this academic field

GENERAL COMPETENCE

The candidate:

• is expected to be able to perform analytical reasoning
• is expected to present and discuss problems, views and solutions, both orally and in writing
• is expected to be able to talk to people with different backgrounds on a general level

Lectures and seminars. The course demands a high degree of student activity, both through preparations at home and oral participation in lectures and seminars.

Approved obligatory assignments are valid for 2 semesters (the semester in which the approval is given, plus the following semester). All obligatory assignments must be completed in the same semester.
