Clinical studies, Nursing home 2nd semester

Practical studies together with patients and patients' next of kin. 
It is expected that students use relevant literature throughout the training period.

Learning outcome - knowledge: After completing the course, the student has knowledge about:
-Ethical guidlines for nurses
-Conditions that may affect communication and interaction
-Basic needs of the elderly in institutions
-Nursing related to basic needs
-Nursing documentation based on the nursing process
-Medication administration for the elderly in institutions
-The area of expertice for other professions
-Organization of the institution 

Learning outcome - skills: After completing the course, the student should be able to:
-Identify and describe ethical issues
-Communicate and cooperate appropriately with patients, patients' next of kin and staff
-Document observations, assesments and nursing using the nursing process
-Perform basic procedures in a way that maintains patient safety
-Obtain and apply relevant knowledge in the delivery of nursing care
-Administer medications safely and responsibly
-Administer nursing for some/a few patient

Learning outcome - competency: After completing the course, the student should:
-Deliver evidence-based nursing with a caring attitude
-Demonstrate an analytical attitude towards ethical issues in nursing
-Be aware of their professional role, towards patients, patients' next of kin and other professional groups
-Plan their own work systematically
