Fintech, enabling technologies and change

Through the course "Fintech, enabling technologies and change", the participants will get a review of factors that affect the development both in this sector and in society in general in the coming years. This will create a background for being able to understand the challenges that various players in the industry face. In addition to an overview, the participants will learn more about platforms, platform design and what is special about organization through platforms, and how this leads to what is called «platform economy».

To understand changes that include both the sector and its customers, participants will also learn about various enabling technologies and what consequences / effects these have on selected sectors in society.

However, digital transformation is not just about technology and platform economics, but at least as much about culture and understanding of change processes. Therefore, through this course, participants will develop insight into and understanding of how technology interacts with other changes in society and creates a basis for both new services and new business models.

The course is an independent course that is not included in any study program. However, one can apply to have it incorporated into a study program on an individual basis. The course overlaps with SMF 6570/6572 Digital transformation and sustainability, and can not be combined with these in any study program.

Through this course, participants will…

gain advanced knowledge of what digital transformation in the financial sector entails and what driving forces affect development at both the macro and micro level.

gain knowledge of how framework conditions change as a result of changed regulations, deregulation and control (eg money laundering etc)

gain advanced knowledge of platform economics, platforms' business models and special challenges platform organization creates for individuals and organizations

gain in-depth insight into the new roles and tasks the fintech sector, alone or in collaboration with the established companies, may have in society as a result of a digital transformation

gain advanced insight into the challenges one faces in terms of leading change processes in a digital transformation and how these can be handled

There are three prerequisites that must be in place for one to be able to learn something. One must have some form of instruction, one must practice and one must know whether one has understood something or not. The instruction in these courses will be fully digital, mainly in the form of texts and videos, while exercises and tests of comprehension will be in the form of various types of exercises. In addition, there will be extensive feedback loops in the form of various types of evaluations, such as "smiley faces", small questionnaire surveys, etc. The course is divided into independent courses that are completed individually at your own pace, but within a given time frame and in a given order. Each of the courses will be accompanied by synchronous events in the form of webinars, podcasts, Q&A and more.
