(8) Transport regulation and regional economic development (9) Emerging Transport technologies, their role and limitations

It is expected that when the student completes this course, they should have the:

Knowledge:

• to understand the different concepts, and principles of transport economics for effective decision making
• to analyze the demand and supply of transport, both freight and passengers.
• to understand the alternative transportations models, in light of capacity, effectiveness, frequency, environment and financing.
• to evaluate and apply appropriate analytic techniques and methods in transport utility

Skills:

• to take decisions based on theory and the understanding of the field of transportation economics.
• to apply the relevant tools and models within transport for effective decision making.

General competence:

• to be able to internalize the underlying problems related to transport from an economy perspective.
• given that the course provides a broad understanding of transportation demand and cost analyses, the student should have an insight in latest innovations in logistics and transportation and show their relevance to management challenges.

Lectures, exercise sessions and mandatory assignments.

The course requires mandatory attendance in lectures and exercise sessions. Absence must be documented and approved by course coordinator. Failing the attendance criteria requires retake of the course.
