School in Society

The course focuses on the development and leadership of and within schools. There is a particular emphasis on the education sector's position and role in society. It sheds light on how the education sector is governed, managed, led, and regulated through laws, regulations, and agreements. Through the course, students will develop competence in working with school development in relation to both political frameworks and general societal changes. The course addresses issues related to school development within a political, economic, and social context.

• knowledge of the requirements for academic writing

Skills

The student can

• use data and relevant theory for development work in schools
• lead schools in accordance with laws and agreements
• produce research-based knowledge on the school in society
• Finding relevant literature on the selected topic and methodology
• analyze the context and situation of educational organizations
• use various methodological approaches to analyze the school within society
• write an academic text in accordance with the standards required for such texts
• use AI for data analysis and development of one's own tex

The teaching consists of lectures, group work, exercises, and plenary discussions. There are two three-day sessions with mandatory attendance in the course. During the course, the student will develop a text on a self-chosen topic under the guidance of fellow students and faculty.
