Organization and Organizing II

The course gives a survey of organizational and theoretical problems attached to the organization of welfare and care in society. The topics may vary from forces and processes, such as professionalization, clientization, de-institutionalization, privatization, increased efficiency and coordination, to current ideologies regarding organizational activities such as administration, management, planning, evaluation and cooperation. The course will address current issues and may therefore vary from time to time.

To increase the students' attention to the almost omnipresent existence and meaning of organizations and organizing in modern society. Knowledge about organizational factors is of particular importance within societal areas that are organizationally 'thick', and the course may thus be a helpful tool for social work and health students in many different situations in their studies.

Teaching method and activities: Lectures, seminars and written assignments.
Form of assessment: Term paper with given topic.
The term paper is to be of approximately 15 pages.
