Health and Welfare Policy II

The aim of this course is to explain main values central to the design of health and socio-political efforts; justice, equality, freedom and solidarity.
It will be emphasized that health and social politics is a tug of war between different values. Some values have greater impact than others, during specific time periods,and choices of values are constantly being reinterpreted and renegotiated. Instead of accounting for concrete efforts that are constantly changing, one will try to give students a theoretical framework that can be used to analyze specific reforms and efforts. This course will address different issues and may therefore vary somewhat from one course to the other.
The term paper is around 10-15 pages.

Give the students an analytical tool, to enable them to analyze and understand the concrete design of social politics, based on the choices of values that are made.

Teaching method and activities: Lectures, seminars, written assignment.
Form of assessment: Term paper with given topic.
