Economics, Politics and Ecology

This course covers the various forms of institutional ways of distributing cultural defined benefits, and the social forms that are generated by competition for such goods. The course also includes an overview of forms of conflict resolution and collective political action, and different social adaptation to natural conditions (ecology). During the semester, the students will submit a written exercise to be approved by the department. The course is mandatory for all who want a bachelor's degree or a one-year program in social anthropology.

By the end of the course, students will be able to explain the central anthropological concepts and discussions related to economic production and circulation. They will also be able to account for various forms of socio-cultural integration, forms of hierarchy and stratification, and social adaptations to different natural conditions. Students should also develop fundamental knowledge of economic spheres, modernization processes and legal institutions. The students should acquire skills in academic writing through the work of the mandatory written exercise.
