About this course

Content

Economics is to a large extent about optimal economic policy. This course focuses on how economic policy is formed through the interaction between different actors, including the electorate, political parties, and interest groups. A central topic is how political processes influence macroeconomic policy and redistributional policy.

Learning outcomes

The students should have knowledge about the formation of economic policy and how this reflects the relationship between various actors in the society. The students should be able to analyze how the organization of political processes influences macroeconomic policy and redistributional policy.

Teaching methods

4 hours of lectures every week. One compulsory term paper. The course is an optional master's course, and is not taught every semester. Check www.ntnu.edu/econ.
