About this course

Content

This course gives an introduction to basic statistical concepts and the mathematics of probability. The course discusses the theory of estimation and hypothesis testing. Applications of the theories are emphasized by using examples and independent empirical analysis. Connected to this, the course provides an introduction to relevant software. The course also prepares the student for more advanced econometrics courses.

Learning outcomes

Students should have knowledge of the theory of statistical estimation and hypothesis testing, and be able to use this knowledge to conduct their own independent statistical analyses. Such analyses should include quantification of economic relationships.

Teaching methods

4 hours of lectures/seminars per week throughout the semester and term paper supervision.

Form of assessment: Bachelor thesis and written exam.
