Milieu Therapy 1

Milieu therapy builds on knowledge from a number of disciplines. Historically it has been associated with work in child protection and child psychiatry. Nowadays the frame of reference has been extended to include work that is carried out in children’s and young people’s social environment in general, and not only in residential settings. Milieu therapy focuses on children and young people with mental health, relational and social difficulties. There will be a good deal of attention given to work that emphasises their resources and potential for coping and dealing with the challenges they face.
