Learning outcomes

Introduction to radiography
- Knowledge of the history within the profession of medical imaging
- Describes the role of the health care worker and in particularly the profession of radiographers
- Can use the x-ray equipment at university (after completed safety course) and are able to perform x-ray imaging of a phantom/model


Ethics and communication
- Describes different ethical theories and views in humanity and spirituality. Shows a holistic and respectful approach to interaction with patients
- Describes communication, and recognize challenges with patients and next of kin
- Describes the health care system
- Shows interest and ability to cooperate and conflict resolution within group work

Basic radiation physics and protection against radiation.
- Describes various diagnostic equipment, table, tube-support and ancillary equipment configurations
- Explain the functions of the basic components of the main and filament x-ray circuits
- Explains x-ray production, x-ray interactions
- Describes simple techniques for radiation protection to patient and personnel, and biologic effects
- Describes the digital image and performs simpler image processing

Referencing styles and writing of papers
- The student shall demonstrate a critical view towards different written sources, and use correct referencing styles when writing papers.
- The student should have a basic knowledge of (introduction to) ethical theory and the social sciences, emphasizing on their application in the clinical environment.

Teaching methods

PBL (Problem Based Learning)

This includes working in groups, lectures, seminars, writing papers, laboratory work and self study.

Mandatory requirements:
Exam registration requires that class registration is approved in the same semester.
