Applied and Clinical Biological Psychology: Neural Systems and Psychopharmacology

The course is based on applied and clinical use of knowledge acquired in the courses Biological Psychology 1 and 2. Students will through experimental and theoretical work, acquire specific knowledge about the neurobiological basis of somatic responses and consciousness involved in stress, psychological aspects of pain and pain disorders, the neurobiological basis of psychological dependence. The course includes work in Laboratory with EEG and nevrofeedback, as well as a course in brain- dissection.

Knowledge:

• The student has advanced knowledge of neurobiological processes involved in stress, pain, and mental disorders.
• The student has good knowledge of psychotropic drugs behavior. The clinical relevance of biological psychology is central.

Skill:

• The student has developed understanding of the importance of biological psychology in clinical and applied psychologic work.

General knowledge:

• The student can communicate the relevant subject matter in a good way.
• The student can apply their knowledge in relation to the analysis of issues in biological psychology with relevance to clinical Psychology.
