Clinical Psychology and Nevro Psychology

In this course an introduction to clinical neuropsychology will be provided, which relates to Clinical Practice and focuses on the treatment and rehabilitation of both adults and children. Biological risk factors will be examined and looked at in the light of the importance of environment for later development and the extent of any functional disturbances. Implications for learning, going to school, occupational activity and general functioning will be examined Teaching that builds further on the general aspects of mental problems in various age groups will also be provided. Methods of reviewing and rehabilitation of children and adults are emphasized. The course will give an introduction to the most important approaches, inclusive different diagnostic methods within the clinical area.

The student has knowledge about clinical neuropsychology, especially connected to reviewing of brain injury.
The student has knowledge about neuropsychological outcome and indications related to different conditions.
The student has knowledge about biological risk factors and the importance of environment for later development and extent of functional disturbance.
The student has knowledge about consequences for learning, school attendance, profession and general functions.
The student has some knowledge about rehabilitation work with different patient groups with brain injuries.

The student can make reflections on and discuss the meaning of neuropsychological conditions.
The student has knowledge about main methods connected to reviewing and rehabilitation.
General competence:
The student is able to communicate and discuss clinical neuropsychological problems.
The student is familiar to the main methods of reviewing.
