In-house Clinical Practice I

Through working in in-house practice the student will encounter a variety of problems and different work tasks relevant to later professional practice as a psychologist in the therapeutic role. The student will also gain experience in working with both children and youth. Guidance and tuition will include coverage of analyses, diagnostic assessments, establishing contact, alliances, design and execution of treatment plans, the development of collaborative relationships, conclusion of therapy and assessment of therapy. Plenary case presentation is an important forum for discussing issues related to assessment, planning and implementation of clinical therapy both theoretically and methodoligically. Record keeping is also included in the training. Approval of in-house practice takes place in accordance with the separate guidelines for practice.

Knowledge:
The student has practical experience and knowledge when it comes to psychological treatment of children and youth. The student has experience in being part of the student group and the guidance taking place in this group. The student has insight into fellow students work and evaluation regarding children and youth and has by this developed knowledge about not only own form of treatment.
Skills:
The student can establish necessary contact and work connection.
The student can explain a broad specter of psychological conditions using relevant examination methods.
The student can carry out adaptive and effective therapeutic actions.
The student can sensitive and observant therapeutically observation.
The student can give fellow students and future colleagues constructive feedback.
The student can receive and benefit from fellow students and supervisors constructive feedback.
The student can do journaling, including writing epicrisis.
General competence:
The student can apply existing theoretical and empirical knowledge on reviews and effective treatment in plain matters.
The student can evaluate new theoretical and empirical knowledge and realize this in practical therapeutic use.
The student can communicate professional and ethical problem descriptions to partners and users of psychological treatment.
The student can show willingness to self-reflecting when it comes to own attitude and behavior, preventing or promoting a professional and ethical performance of the profession.

Will include lectures, self-study in the form of exercises / group work, case presentations, seminars, and exercises with individual instruction. Student presentations may be applicable.
Relevant curriculum is chosen for the various conditons, and includes both textbooks, articles and compendium. In addition to this, relevant supporting literature. Students will also be encouraged to be curious about literature, and share tips on literature with each other.
This course is evaluated according to the Guidelines for the implementation and evaluation of clinical practice.
