Thesis - Seminar

The course extends the student’s methodological knowledge into practical conducting of research. Critically evaluating scientific literature, developing relevant and feasible research questions, choosing appropriate research design and meeting ethical standards are central. The course will provide information about project possibilities for the graduate thesis (PSYK4700), facilitate contact with potential supervisors and support the development of a research question and project plan.

Knowledge:

• The student has thorough knowledge of research ethics, legislation, guidelines, principles and routines for responsible conducting of research and dissemination. This includes ethical applications and rules for plagiarism.
• The student is familiar with principles for open science.

Skills:

• The student can critically reflect and discuss scientific knowledge in general and to their own research topic in particular.
• The student can develop and evaluate different research designs and methodological approaches to address different research questions.

General competence:

• The student can analyze theoretic, scientific, ethical and clinical questions from the perspective of theory of science
