Safety Psychology

The course will give an introduction to the central theories of Safety Psychology. There will also be a focus on traffic behaviour and accidents. Security and risk problems related to health and preventative work therein will be central to the course. Also discussed will be aspects of security at home, during free time, school and work. The course will give further insights into effect measures in preventative work. Actual scientific methods will be taught in this field.

The course gives the participants a foundational knowledge in psychological theory and method concerning safety and accidents in different community arenas, practical skills in the charting of causes of accidents as well as preparation for and completion of a security promotion and accident prevention measure, and gives practice in the effective evaluation of such measures.

Teaching method and activities: Lectures/seminars/project work 3 hours per week (mandatory reading list). Self-study (elective reading list).
Form of assessment: Individual semester paper which must be anchored in the reading list (A through F).
