Occupational Health Psychology

The subject field includes different theories and theoretical models to understand the relationship between work and health. Different biopsychosocial factors will be emphasized in the understanding of mental and physical health. Occupational health will be presented from a treatment, prevention and promotion perspective. Relevant topics are: psychosocial work environment, stress and coping, quality of life, burnout, emotions, positive occupational health psychology, work engagement, job satisfaction, work/family-balance, exclusion/inclusion from work life, sickness presenteeism, and sickness absenteeism.

- The student has an advanced understanding of relevant theories, empirical studies and methods within the field of occupational health psychology. - The student has thorough knowledge about the relationship between the psychosocial work environment and health. - The student has a specialized deeper understanding within a self-selected field of occupational health psychology. - The student is capable of analyzing and reflecting about different problems/research questions within the occupational health psychology based on history, conceptualizations and theoretical models. - The student has experience with how to use theories and empirical studies from the field of occupational health psychology to analyze, reflect, think critical and solve both theoretical and practical problems. • The student is able to develop relevant research questions and write an independent theoretical term paper. - The student is able to search for literature in the central databases in order to choose scientific relevant literature. - The student is able to perform an independent good oral and written presentation of theories and empirical studies in the field of occupational health psychology. - The student is able to exercise a critical, analytical and innovative approach applicable to knowledge and practice within occupational health psychology. - The student is able to use his or her expertise and skills in new fields in order to answer new problems. - The student is able to reflect, communicate and present technical problems, and analyze and conclude within the field.
