Social and Society Psychology

The course provides basic background in the study of Social Psychology; the relationship among individuals, small groups and society. Some of the central themes in the instruction include social understanding, attribution of causation, group processes, attitude formation and attitude alteration, social influences and behaviour and also the relationship between identity and self image. Societypsychology study the relationsship between men through a ecolocical perspective. Some of the central themes in the instruction include man in social context, health through empowerment, self-help and society development. Seminars, project work and excursions will complement the instruction and will originate in the required readings with the possibility for choices from other literature.

The course is theoretical and will give the student insights into the important theoretical and methodological perspectives in this field of psychology, training in presenting written research results through project work, and training in presenting research results orally.

Teaching method and activities: Lectures 4 hours per week based on mandatory reading list, seminars and project work/excursions. Self-study (elective reading list).
The course is reserved for students admitted to a particular programme. Exchange students interested in the course must consult the Department for possible admission.
