In-Depth Research in Psychology

This course constitutes the Bachelor’s Degree thesis in Psychology (15 credits) and consists of an empirical investigation or project. This empirical research project is chosen from one of the central subjects in psychological research which are offered. A number of subjects are offered and will vary with the number of applicants. An individual research project report will be written which should conform to the definition of a “work project” in the student course description. This requires that all students participate actively in the work involved with the investigation. The course is evaluated with a letter grade (A through F).

The course gives training in the writing of an independent research project report, and provides teaching and preparation along with completion of a qualitative research project. Emphasis will be placed on an introduction to the subject of and formulation of the research question, different designs, practical interviewing, transcribing, different analytical techniques, verification and reporting. It will also be teaching students how they can prepare, complete, analyze, report and evaluate quantitative data.

Teaching method and activities: Seminars, exercises, student supervision, teacher supervision, field work, project work. Compulsory activities:Active participation in research work. Form of assessment: Project work (A through F), portfolio evaluation (based on a choice of works from earlier Bachelor’s degree studies), external censor.
