Project Management and Communicative Processes

POM3000 will encourage the students to use their humanistic background when they enter working life. The course focuses on project management and communicative processes, which is an important part of project group work. The students will gain practical experience and knowledge related to
-project management and work processes
-scientific identities and interdisciplinary practices
-communication across backgrounds and competences
-tool for planning, presentation and reporting

KNOWLEDGE

At the end of the course the student is expected to be familiar with:
- Basic principles and relevant tools for project work
- The process from idea to the start of a project
- Interdisciplinarity in the modern working life
- Communicative processes and challenges i project work,
interdisciplinary teams and presentation

SKILLS

At the end of the course the student is expected to be able to:
- Identify challenges related to communicative processes in the the course of the project
- Give qualified response to oral and written contributions from colleagues
- Report on status and results from projects, borth orally and in writing

GENERAL COMPETENCE

At the end of the course the student should be able to:
- Envision and handle communicative challenges in interdisciplinary project work
- Convey a project’s ideas, goals, premises, challenges and solutions both orally and in writing.
- Assess adapted solutions based on personal competence.

Credit reduction due to overlapping courses: 7.5 credits for AVS 3010.
Compulsory activity: 1 oral and 1 written group presentation
Exam form: Individual report with letter grading

The course has a practical orientation and lectures may be supplemented by studying an actual project – through observation, interviews or conversation analyses and document analyses. The students will also have the opportunity to prepare and/or complete training they themselves have organised in relation to their master’s thesis. Lecturers with project management experience from business life may be involved to a certain extent, and the students will be working in interdisciplinary groups. During the course each group will give one oral and one written presentation. The students will submit a report as a basis for individual assessment with grading. POM 3000 and AVS3010 students will be taught together.

The volume and duration of the home exam will be announced on Itslearning at the start of term.
