Petroleum Management: The Norwegian Model

There is growing interest in the Norwegian model of petroleum management. This course provides a thorough introduction to how the Norwegian state has managed its petroleum resources over time. The study of petroleum management is approached from a political economy perspective, employing both theoretical models and empirical investigations.

Knowledge - the student shall:
- gain an overview over Norwegian petroleum management
- gain knowledge about the political, social and ethical challenges associated with natural resource management
Skills - the student shall:
- formulate scientifically valid, relevant and manageable research questions and projects.

Lectures/group discussion up to 4 hours a week. Supervision of term paper. The language of instruction is English. Lectures toghether with POL2022. If less than 6 students attend the course the first weeks of teaching, the course will be given as an individual study course with supervision.
