Linking Practice and Theory in Teacher Education

The course is based on the book by F.A.J. Korthagen: Linking Practice and Theory and the Comenius project: Learning from Practice, where lecturers from among others the University of Utrecht and NTNU will link the required literature to practical models of development in teacher education. Dialog on initiatives and processes which may support an overall perspective on the connection between theory and practice in teacher education, will be stressed. The same applies to tutored writing of an academic article within the field.

• The course will contribute to giving the students an overall perspective on linking theory and practice in teacher education.
• Through relevant theory the course will help the students to reflect on current possibilities and obstacles, aiming at a higher consistency and continuity in teacher education.
• Participating in the course, the students will also be trained in writing a concise academic paper, linked to the required literature.
