The purpose of the subject is to give a thorough introduction to various aspects of process modeling and process improvement. Relevant content includes various approaches to process modeling and various models for process improvement. As regards to process improvement, the content includes areas such as status analysis, establishment of improvement teams, self assessment, benchmarking, the process improvment process, and evaluation.

Knowledge, the candidate has knowledge about: - Historical development of the field process modelling and improvement. - Detailed insight into how to model a business process. - Understanding of the link between process models and improvement work. Skills, the candidate can: - Model a business process. - Apply improvement tools to improve a business process. General competence, the candidate can: - Understand the impact and use of process modelling and improvement in organizations and society.

The course will be started with an initial lecture. The main mode of work is individual studies of literature and the production of a report based on this. To pass the course a score of at least 70 percent is required.
