About this course

Content

Module:

Specialization in safety, reliability and maintenance.

Theme:

- Maintenance management.

- Age, block and minimal maintenance strategies.

- Optimizing the interval and level of intervention in models for condition control.

- Digital twins for the maintenance function.

- Real-time models for synchronization of operation, operation and maintenance.

- Grouping of maintenance tasks, and optimization of strategies for grouping.

- Carrying out maintenance where possible.

- Reliability centred maintenance (RCM).

- Optimization of renewal.

- Collection and analysis of experience data for use in maintenance management.

- Use of numerical methods.

Learning outcomes

Knowledge:

The student has basic insight into the theoretical basis and practical applications of maintenance optimization. The theoretical basis shall form a basis for the development of new models and methods within maintenance optimisation.

Skills:

The student

  • can recognize a number of standard situations for such optimization
  • can develop good reasoning for more complicated situations where maintenance optimization is used
  • can solve specific optimization problems.

General competence:

The student understands the maintenance and use of digital solutions as an important element in industrial and commercial systems and in public administration.

Teaching methods

The subject is carried out in two sessions, three + two days of lectures, group work and discussions. Great emphasis is placed on discussions and the transfer of experience between the participants.

Between the two collections there are self-studies with reading syllabus, assignments and guidance via the internet. In the lectures, computers are used to solve math problems.

Students must bring their own PC/Mac with MS Excel. The training program is also largely based on the students solving tasks on the computer.

The course is part of NTNU's further education offer, and has a course fee. See NTNU Videres hjemmesider
