About this course
Content
The course reviews newer literature over mathematical and numerical methods for reservoir simulation, however, the main emphasis is on a project work. The project work is individual and and is agreed upon between student and teacher at the beginning of the semester. It may include model development or application of existing models for studying flow phenomena related to the candidate's PhD research.
Learning outcomes
Ingress: The course provides state-of-art knowledge in selected areas of the reservoir simulation related to the candidate's chosen thesis area, as well as develop practical skills related to the development, testing and application of reservoir simulation models.
Knowledge: The candidate should master the basic equations and theory, and numerical solution for different types of reservoir simulation models.
Skills: The candidate will master advanced scientific application of simulation tools aimed at an area of research.
General competence: The candidate will master the mathematical basis for simulation and numerical solution, as well as understanding the physical parameters and phenomena that are the basis for flow in porous media.
Teaching methods
Lectures, self study, literature review, project work.
