Bachelor Thesis in Education

This course will provide an introduction to theoretical and scientific thinking. The student shall acquire written and oral skills in order to have a dialogue with the research community, provide a critical assessment-, analysis-, presentation- and discussion of the theory of current educational issues. The course provides an opportunity for an optional specialization in a central area of education. The theme of the bachelor thesis is chosen by the student. The topic but must be discussed with and approved by the appointed supervisor. A self-selected reading which students can get advice from a supervisor to select, together with any separate data collection, will be the basis for the preparation of the bachelor thesis.

After passing the course, students will have the following learning outcomes:

• Can independently write a scientific text in Education.
• Has thorough knowledge of major theories, concepts and methodological approaches in an optional area of pedagogy.
• Can justify their own professional opinion within the educational field.
• Can formulate a professional pedagogical issue.
• Can make use of relevant existing theory, research results and any personal experiences to illuminate educational issues.
• Master the norms of scientific writing, including references, quotes and layout for reference list.

The main form of teaching activity is seminars. The students will work in larger thematic groups and in small response groups. Guidance is given in theme groups, and each thesis has three hours of individual instruction. Students must submit written assignments such as a sketch and a project description. Students will also orally present their chosen topic and plan the implementation of the project for their theme group
