Master's Thesis in Organization, Digitalization, Administration and Work

The Master Thesis must include a scientific analysis of a topic within organization, digitalization, administration and work. The thesis should be between 50-55 pages, and must not exceed 22 000 words (table of contents, reference list and attachments are excluded). The student must participate in the compulsory master's thesis seminars in the 1st semester and 3rd semester (autumn) and 4th semester (spring). Supervision constitutes a substantial part of the work with the thesis. This ensures that the student is offered the necessary knowledge and involves an essential control of the collecting and treatment of data, within ethical research guidelines. Supervision is therefore a compulsory part of the study program for students who wish to submit a Master’s Thesis.

Knowledge - the student shall:

* have a theoretically comprehensive knowledge of the specific research topic.

* have learned how to carry out independent research work.

* through mandatory guidance gain insight into the various steps of the research process: constructive and critical assessment of others research, research planning and collaboration, data collection, analysis and dissemination.

Skills - the student shall demonstrate the ability to:

* carry out independent scientific research.

* through the work on the master’s thesis acquire skills that can be used not only in a research context, but also e.g. in organization, management, and work contexts, information and communication work, journalism and other media work, investigation and evaluation work, teaching and so on.

Compulsory master’s thesis seminar and supervision. The master’s thesis must be written individually. The subject of the thesis must be approved by the department. Every student must sign a master’s thesis agreement which, among other things, regulates the supervision. Submission of the master’s thesis agreement is before January 10 in the spring semester. The thesis has a deadline, and must be submitted before 21 weeks (including Easter) have passed after submission of the master’s agreement. The deadline of the thesis is therefore June 6 in the spring semester. If the master’s thesis is not submitted by the deadline, it will be considered a failed attempt and thus counted as one of the two attempts at the master’s thesis.
