Research Project for Organizations and Public Administration

The students will work on an issue on a topic related to organizations, digitalization, administration and work in a relevant organization or public administration. The report is written based on assignments given by the client. The topic is developed in collaboration between the client, the student group and the supervisor. The research assignment is more a research-related rather than a practical insight into work tasks and processes. The students will not primarily go into the daily work in the organization but will have the opportunity to observe and participate in certain parts of the process that are important for the work the students will carry out for the organization. The students must follow the same regulations and rules as the other employees regarding confidentiality and so on. The results from the work must be returned to the organization by giving them access to the report the students have produced.

Knowledge - the student shall:

* gain a research insight into real and current situations and problems related to organizations, digitalization, administration and work.

* can combine theory with experiental learning by studying theoretical issues in the light of practical examples.

Skills - the student shall demonstrate the ability to:

* carry out independent research for a client.

* acquire skills related to how research and studies on organizations, digitalization, administration and work can be used as a tool for various organizations and public administration.

* develop collaboration skills and abilities in project work.

General competence - the candidate:

* can independently plan and carry out research and evaluation projects in the intersection of organization, digitalization, work and administration with the use of social science methods, both independently and in collaboration with others.

* get a conceptual framework for analyzing, illuminating, and reflecting on technology, politics, and societal change.

* understands how key dimensions in the digital economy are important for working life, professions, organizations, and the welfare state.

* can act as an advisor who sets digitalization processes in context.

Seminar and research assignments for organizations and public administration. In the organizations, the students will work on an issue that will result in a research report. The theme for the report shall be within the framework of what the external partners have to offer. The work with the report is done in groups of 2-4 students. Participation in the seminars is mandatory, including presentation of progress report and completed report.
