Text History and Exploratory Literature Work in L1

This course introduces the core element «text in context» and provides didactic approaches to work with fiction and non-fiction in various genres and mediums.

Knowledge

The candidate

• has a broad knowledge of what characterizes oral, written and compound texts; fiction texts and non-fiction texts in various genres, and texts from older and newer mediums
• has broad knowledge of different readings and can reflect on contextual readings
• have a basic understanding of literary science and literar
• has basic knowledge of how pupils in upper secondary and upper secondary school can be motivated to read and further develop reading comprehension and reading strategies

SKILLS

The candidate

• can plan, implement and evaluate literature teaching at the lower secondary level and at the upper secondary level and justify academic choices
• can stimulate interest in reading and reading pleasure, and facilitate the further development of young people's reading skills
• can facilitate exploratory work with literature in context
• can analyze and explain literary and linguistic means in different texts

GENERAL COMPETENCE

The candidate

• has experience with the use of digital media and can facilitate their use in Norwegian professional contexts
• has developed theoretical, analytical and didactic knowledge about working with texts in various genres on paper and screen

Session-based teaching, part-time study

Online lectures, one in-person seminar, one digital seminar, practical exercises, and collaboration through the learning platform. Students must have access to a computer with an internet connection.

The digital learning platform is used actively between the sessions, for submission of written works and communication with fellow students. The course includes student presentations, the sharing of experiences, lectures, and workshops. Throughout the study, the students’ own writing and reflections between theory and practice experiences, is central.
