Scandinavian Literature before 1900

The academic content of the course, i.e. topic and theory will vary from one academic year to another. The course provides a study of a selection of Scandinavian literary works and a selection of relevant theoretical texts.

Candidates will have obtained the following qualifications after successfully completing this course:

Knowledge

• good knowledge in a limited topic within Scandinavian literature before 1900

Skills

• the ability to make use of and reflect on theoretical-methodological approaches within a limited area of literary science
• the ability to analyze texts in context, such as an authorship or a literary work, a theme or a theoretical perspective
• the ability to develop and discuss a question within a specific field of literary science

Lectures/seminars.

Obligatory assignments: Up to 3 short written assignments. (determined by lecturer). Approved obligatory assignment is valid for 2 semesters (the semester in which the approval is given, plus the following semester).

Obligatory activities from a previous semester may be approved by the department.
