Specialization Subject II

MV3014 is a theoretical media studies course. The course instruction is research based, which entails that the problem area of the course will be orientated at the lecturer's research profile. This implies that the academic content varies.
By part-taking in the discussions of the topics at hand, the students will gain valuable insight into approaches, research methods and the communication of results of current research. The aim is to give the students insight, knowledge and practice before starting their own research for a master's thesis.

Upon a successful completion of this course, students have
– deep insight into a specific area or thematics within media studies.
– knowledge of the relevant methodologies an theories of this area and it’s place within media studies
– increased understand of ongoing research at the Department


Upon a successful completion of this course, students are able to
- understand and discuss the methodology and range of this specific area
- the research findings and mediations up against the research design

Lectures and group sessions.

More on assessment: The final assessment is based on a 3 day take-home examination. The scope of the text should be ca. 2 000 words (5 pages) on a given topic. The work will be marked with a letter grade.

Students are required to keep updated on relevant information from the department or course director via It's learning and Innsida.
