Advanced Subject with a Special Reference to Musicological Research and Methodology

The course is based on studies within literature, music and/or other relevant material for the current subjects or thematic area.
The subject can be from all parts of musicology, such as ethnomusicology, folk music, popular music, music in movies, history of music, music pedagogy and so forth.
The specific academic content is determined by the instruction currently offered, which varies from semester to semester.

Knowledge:
An examinee with a completed qualification in MUSV2018
- has in-depth knowledge about a limited musicological subject
- has general knowledge of the musicological field the advanced subject belongs to
- has knowledge about central sources, notational principles, theories, research methods and analytical tools within the specific musicological field of research
- has knowledge about central problems within the specific musicological field of research


Skills:
An examinee with a completed qualification in MUSV2018
- can express his/her deepened knowledge in a convincing way, both in writing and speech
- can make his/her own reflections based on, and in the extension of the acquired knowledge
- can utilise the acquired knowledge about central sources, notational principles, theories, research methods and analytical tools within the specific musicological field of research
- can reflect about his/her own professional behaviour and is able to adjust it under guided supervision

Lectures and a reading list combined with a syllabus on analysis and practical exercises, where this is relevant for the content and focus of the course.
