Advanced Topics

The topic for the intermediate study can be taken from any area of musicology. The topics that are offered will vary. A fixed reading list is provided for each topic, and lectures are based on these. Course codes can only be used once. Students who register a course in which they have already passed the final examination, therefore register for a retake of an already passed examination, regardless of the valid syllabus/reading list.

The objective is to provide the student with the opportunity to study a defined area in musicology in a focused way. Students may choose the topic based on their individual interests. The choices available are limited by the current instruction available at the Department.

Lectures.

List of compulsory works. Note: An attachment to the exam registration that describes the topic for postgraduate study must be submitted to the Department (same deadline as exam registration). Forms are available at the Department.

Assessment: Due to work on music score/aural examples, the examination lasts six hours.
