Music in the Loudspeaker Age

The point of departure for this subject is the loudspeaker seen as a precondition for recorded music in general and for electroacoustic music in particular. Based on the fundamental conviction of the loudspeaker's importance, the interaction between music and technology is discussed both historically and thematically in connection with recorded music and electroacoustic music: historically, through the presentation of the important development lines, and thematically, through the discussions of specific traits and characteristic phenomena pertaining to music aesthetics, music appreciation, and music consumption.

Knowledge:

- has knowledge about the broader, musical development from the last part of the 19th. century until today, in which the loudspeaker revolution plays a vital part
- has knowledge of historical, social, and aesthetic perspectives pertaining to musical recording, electroacoustic music, and other kinds of musical manifestations where technology is crucial
- has knowledge about key issues concerning interactions between music and technology.
